Maintaining a respectful and professional tone in all online interactions is essential ☝️😃 Treat your course manager and fellow learners with courtesy and respect. Any form of sexual harassment or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated.
Following netiquette is essential for creating a respectful and productive online learning environment. By adhering to these do's and don'ts, you can contribute to a positive online community within PEARL.
✔️ Use proper language and respect others' opinions. It's natural for people to have different opinions. Be open to diverse viewpoints and engage in constructive discussions, even if you disagree. Do not use offensive, derogatory, discriminatory, or sexually explicit language. Treat others with respect and courtesy.
✔️ Avoid caps lock. WRITING IN ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING ONLINE. Avoid using caps lock excessively as it may come across as rude, and it is not easy to read.
✔️ Do not spam. Do not flood the discussion boards with irrelevant messages.
✔️ Respect others' privacy. Do not share personal or sensitive information of yourself or others in public discussions.
✔️ Report inappropriate behaviour: If you encounter disruptive, offensive, or sexually explicit comments (including humour of a sexual nature), do not engage with the person. Instead, report the behaviour to the course manager.
✔️ Do not ignore or minimize sexual harassment. If you witness or experience sexual harassment, do not ignore it, or dismiss it as unimportant. Instead, report the behaviour to the course manager.
