This course covers the concepts and applications in environmental and conservation biology, involving the use of aspects and natural resource management for sustainability in the long term. Involves a focus on the diversity of life in the ocean ecosystem including aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. This course will also discuss some aspects of biodiversity, including diversity of species in ecological communities and ecosystem diversity. The main issues will be showcased to provide an understanding of environmental problems through a number of case studies. This course provides an introduction to basic science and environment problems facing today and the impact of world population growth. Fundamental topics include the effects of population growth, agriculture and food production, pest control, conservation of forests and wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability of various aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, various types of energy and the impact of the use of energy, water and air pollution, and solid waste disposal.
