B

Blocking

A technique used in experimental design to control for variability by grouping similar experimental units into blocks. This helps to reduce the impact of confounding variables and allows for a more accurate assessment of the treatment effects.

C

Control Group

The group in an experiment that does not receive the treatment or intervention, used as a baseline to compare with the experimental group.

E

Experimental Group

The group in an experiment that receives the treatment or intervention being tested.

P

Probability Distribution

A probability distribution describes how the probabilities are distributed over the values of a random variable. It can be discrete (e.g., binomial) or continuous (e.g., normal).

R

Randomization

The process of assigning participants or subjects to different groups in a way that ensures each has an equal chance of being placed in any group, minimizing bias.

Replication

The repetition of an experiment or study to verify the results and ensure reliability and consistency of the findings.
